Assistive Touch menu
The Assistive Touch menu is one of two tools that allows us to fully control the iPad using our eyes. The second tool for better precision (calibration), Hiru firmware update, and activity for an early-stage user is the Hiru App.
The AssistiveTouch menu is a floating on-screen menu that provides quick access to various functions and gestures, offering an alternative method for performing actions for users who face motor challenges in navigating and interacting with their devices. Thanks to the Assistive Touch menu, you can perform actions such as scroll, long press, hold and drag, press the home button, lock the screen, and many more, all with the power of your eyes.
Personalize your menu
You can customize all actions in the Assistive Touch menu. Select from 1 to 8 actions on the Assistive touch menu. Depends on your needs and level of experience in eye tracking and assistive technology in the iPad.
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Assistive Touch > set it ON.
To edit, choose Customize Top Level Menu > Click on one of the icons > Select action from the list
TIP: Take a look at our suggested guidelines for users at various stages to assist you in setting up the menu. This will help you as you to start with customization.
Secondary level menu
When you explore the list of actions, you'll discover that some of them open secondary level menus. This means that if you click on certain actions in the menu, a wider range of actions will be available for you to choose from. This gives you even more options and flexibility.
Actions that open secondary menu:
- Dwell
- Scroll
- Device
- Custom
- Multitasking
Need more actions?
If you feel 8 actions and secondary-level menus are still not sufficient, set up also the Hot corners as additional actions in every corner of the screen.
