Hold and drag with your eye gaze

Need to drag an item across your screen?

When using your Hiru eye tracker on an iPad, performing complex gestures like a tap-and-hold or a drag-and-drop can sometimes feel tricky. The Hold and Drag feature in AssistiveTouch simplifies this process, locking the "click" state down so you can focus entirely on where you want to move the item.

3 ways to use Hold and Drag with iOS

1.From the AssistiveTouch menu: Most common.

Open your AssistiveTouch Top Level Menu, look at the Hold and Drag icon, and then dwell on the item you want to move. Once locked, look at the target location to drop it.

2.Set up a Hot Corner: Fastest access.

Map Hold and Drag to one of your screen's corners (e.g., top-left). To use it, simply glance into that corner to prime the action, then look at the item you wish to drag.

3.Assign a Custom Action: Great for caregivers.Custom Action

Go to your AssistiveTouch settings and assign Hold and Drag to a Double-Tap or Long Press on the AssistiveTouch floating button.

PRO TIP: If you find that items are dropping too early before you reach your destination, try increasing your Dwell Time slightly. This gives your eyes a larger window of time to travel across the screen without triggering the final "release" click.
