Hiru 4.0.4.

Hiru firmware 4.0.4 introduces significant improvements for iOS and resolves bugs present in version 4.0.1.

We are excited to introduce Hiru Eye Tracker firmware 4.0.4, which enhances Hiru’s functionality in several areas.

Restart or shut down in iOS with the charger!

With this update, users can now restart or power off their iPad with or without the charger connected. Hiru will operate reliably in both scenarios. Following a restart or shutdown with the charger attached, the Hiru App resumes normal operation without displaying any error messages.

💡Why it matters: This advancement empowers independent users to manage restarts autonomously, with the entire process accessible through eye gaze control and without requiring external assistance.

Resolved bugs

Loss of Green Crosses in Video Feed

Previously, on Windows systems, the green cross indicators in the video feed would sometimes disappear. Either immediately after updating Hiru or during an ongoing eye tracking session, resulting in total loss of user detection, with the detection light on Hiru turning OFF.

➡️ Firmware 4.0.4 fully resolves this issue. Sudden loss of detection no longer occurs.

Flickering Detection Light at Regular Intervals

In rare cases involving challenging lighting conditions, the detection light could begin flickering rhythmically, preventing reliable eye control of the device.

➡️ Firmware 4.0.4 addresses this bug to ensure stable detection, eliminating constant rhythm flickering that would disrupt operation.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This does not mean that flickering will never occur. Flickering is a normal indication that the eye tracker is not detecting the eyes perfectly. It can happen if the user is wearing glasses, if lighting conditions are less than ideal, or if their positioning is suboptimal. In these cases, Hiru may have difficulty fully detecting the eyes. When flickering does occur, it is usually intermittent and does not follow a consistent pattern.
